The Banking Mohtasib Pakistan secured Rs. 762.76 million in financial relief for bank customers during the first six months of 2026 after resolving 18,482 complaints against commercial banks.
The ombudsman’s office also reported a sharp rise in public grievances, receiving 21,392 complaints between January and June, compared to 16,915 during the same period last year—an increase of about 26%. Of the total, 4,005 complaints were submitted through the Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal.
Banking Mohtasib Sirajuddin Aziz advised customers to stay alert against scams by never sharing their banking or personal information with anyone over the phone.
He said anyone receiving a suspicious call should immediately contact their bank through its nearest branch or official helpline. Aziz also cautioned that banks’ helplines do not place outbound calls, urging customers to treat calls appearing from a bank’s UAN number as suspicious.
