Epic Angels, the world’s largest all-female investment collective, has returned to back Pakistani fintech Oraan in a fresh funding round, joining existing backers WaveMaker and i2i Ventures as the startup looks to ride a surge in demand for its digital gold savings product.

The size of the investment was not disclosed. Oraan said the new capital will go toward expanding its gold savings offering, building up its gold inventory, and laying the groundwork for international expansion.

Founded in 2018 by former investment banker Halima Iqbal, Oraan digitizes Pakistan’s ubiquitous women-led savings circles, known locally as committees, giving users a digital platform to save, access credit, and now buy gold in fractional amounts. The model targets a glaring gap: only 2% of women in Pakistan have access to formal credit, despite an estimated 60 million participating in informal savings groups.

The company’s fractional gold product, launched in November 2025, has been the breakout story. Oraan said the product grew 75-fold in its first seven months, fueled by rising appetite for accessible digital savings options in a country where gold has long been the default store of wealth.

Beyond its home market, Oraan has signed a licensing deal with a regional bank that will put its savings and credit platform in front of millions of customers in another market — a signal that the startup’s ambitions now stretch well beyond Pakistan’s borders.

“We build products around the way women already save, rather than trying to change their financial habits,” said Iqbal, Oraan’s founder and chief executive.

Epic Angels, which first backed Oraan in 2021, said it remains confident in the fintech’s mission to close the financial inclusion gap for women while supporting its next phase of growth.
