The federal government has launched another round of consultations with exporters and business leaders to refine Pakistan’s tax framework, strengthen export support measures, and improve the overall business climate.

The meeting, chaired by the Minister of State for Finance and Revenue at the Ministry of Finance, brought together senior government officials and representatives from the country’s industrial and export sectors to discuss policy reforms aimed at increasing exports and enhancing industrial competitiveness.

Participants reviewed key export support programmes, including the Drawback of Local Taxes and Levies (DLTL) scheme, the Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF), and the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS). The discussion focused on improving the implementation of these initiatives and addressing operational challenges faced by exporters.

Business representatives also raised concerns related to the ease of doing business, trade facilitation, and Pakistan’s export competitiveness. They stressed the importance of regular engagement between the government and the private sector to support investment and long-term economic growth.

The Minister of State reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining close coordination with industry stakeholders and pursuing reforms that encourage investment, expand exports, and promote industrial development. He said the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Ministry of Commerce would continue working together with the business community to improve the trade environment.

The meeting was attended by leading representatives of the business community, including former Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Jawed Bilwani, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Syed Ahtisham Mazhar, Rana Imran, Jamshed Murtaza, former KCCI President Zubair Motiwala, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association Patron-in-Chief Khurram Mukhtar, and FA International CEO Aslam Pakhali.

Senior government officials in attendance included the Secretary Commerce, FBR Member Sales Tax Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar, Chief Collector Exports and IOCO Mohsin, and FBR Member Customs Policy Ashhad Jawwad.
