The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed increasing the minimum monthly wage to Rs 45,000, raising the current minimum by Rs 5,000.
The proposal was announced by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi while presenting the provincial Budget 2026-27 in the KP Assembly on Friday.
If approved, the revised minimum wage will apply across the province and is intended to improve the earnings of low-income workers in both the public and private sectors where the minimum wage law applies.
The proposed increase will be reviewed by the provincial assembly as part of the budget process before becoming effective.
