The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has sealed seven branches of café chain Double Shot across Lahore over alleged violations of sales tax laws, including bypassing the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) and under-reporting of sales.
In an official sealing order dated June 15, 2026, issued under Section 59A of the Punjab Sales Tax on Services Act, 2012, the PRA said the chain—registered under PNTN H053642—was found issuing invoices outside the mandatory EIMS framework despite its installation at outlets.
According to the order, enforcement teams collected invoices dated June 11, 2026 that were allegedly issued without routing through the EIMS system, a violation of Section 59B of the law and related EIMS rules. The authority said this practice deprives the government of legitimate tax revenue.
The PRA further stated that a comparison of business activity and declared tax returns indicated a significant mismatch, alleging that actual sales were not fully reflected in official filings, suggesting suppression of taxable turnover.
The sealed branches include outlets in Gulberg, Cantt (Falcon Complex), Model Town (C Block), DHA Phase-6, DHA Phase-2 (Lalak Jan Chowk), Pine Avenue, and Dolmen Mall.
The order directed immediate sealing of all seven premises, which will remain closed until full compliance is achieved or for up to one month.
Following the action, Double Shot announced a temporary closure of its branches, stating that operations would resume soon and that customers would be kept updated.
The PRA has not issued any further public clarification beyond the enforcement order, and the matter remains under regulatory review.
