Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that the proposed “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” is now very close to completion, while cautioning media outlets against speculation until the agreement is officially finalized.
In a post on X, Araghchi stated that discussions on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding have progressed significantly and are approaching their final stage. He noted that although substantial progress has been made, the contents of the understanding are still under review and should not be assumed or publicly interpreted prematurely.
He further said that full details will be released once the process is concluded, reiterating a commitment to transparency and orderly communication once an official decision is reached.
The MoU is part of ongoing diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Tehran aimed at expanding cooperation in areas such as regional stability, border management, trade, and broader political coordination. However, the exact scope and final provisions have not yet been made public by either side.
Araghchi’s remarks come amid continued diplomatic activity between the two neighbours, who have been working to strengthen relations following recent discussions on security and economic collaboration.
While no official signing date has been announced, his statement suggests that the framework is nearing its final shape, pending formal approval.
