The Pakistani rupee continued its upward momentum on Tuesday, closing in the green against the US dollar for the 163rd consecutive trading session.

According to market data, the rupee appreciated to 278.57 against the US dollar, gaining 0.03 paisa during the day’s trading.

In the broader currency market, the rupee showed mixed but mostly positive performance against major global currencies.

It strengthened against the euro, Australian dollar, Canadian dollar, UAE dirham, Saudi riyal, Chinese yuan, and Malaysian ringgit. However, it weakened against the British pound.

Against the euro, the rupee gained 0.1189 units, while it rose by 0.9131 against the Australian dollar. It also appreciated by 0.1031 against the Canadian dollar.

The rupee recorded smaller gains of 0.0165 against the Malaysian ringgit, 0.0114 against the Chinese yuan, 0.0176 against the UAE dirham, and 0.0022 against the Saudi riyal.

In contrast, the rupee slipped 1.0460 against the British pound, making it the only major currency where it posted a decline during the session.
