The federal government is expected to present the FY2026–27 budget on June 5, 2026, as consultations between key institutions move into the final phase to set the country’s next fiscal roadmap, sources told ProPakistani.
The proposed date has been under discussion between the Ministry of Finance and the National Assembly Secretariat as they finalize the budget schedule and parliamentary timetable.
An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation has also arrived in Islamabad to hold initial discussions with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and senior officials of the Finance Division on key budget priorities and reforms.
Officials said the upcoming budget will be closely aligned with IMF guidance, with early-stage talks involving meetings between the visiting IMF mission, the Finance Ministry, and State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad.
In parallel, the government is working on an ambitious revenue plan. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax collection target for FY27 is expected to exceed this year’s level by around Rs. 2 trillion, with overall tax revenue likely being set above Rs. 15.3 trillion, according to sources.
The IMF mission will continue detailed consultations in the coming days as Pakistan shapes its fiscal strategy for the next financial year.
