Millat Tractors Limited has clarified that one of its group companies is currently evaluating the feasibility of entering Pakistan’s electric motorcycle segment, amid growing speculation about its potential expansion into the electric vehicle market.
In a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on May 7, 2026, the company stated that the clarification was issued in response to recent media and market reports suggesting its entry into the electric two-wheeler industry.
Earlier reports circulating on social media had claimed that the Millat Group of Industries was preparing to launch a large-scale electric motorcycle assembly and localized production project in Pakistan, targeting affordable EV bikes for the mass market. The reports also suggested that the group was considering a strategy focused on localization, durability, and after-sales service—areas where Millat already has an established presence through its agricultural machinery and engineering businesses.
However, the company clarified that the matter remains at a preliminary stage and no final decision has been taken regarding the production or launch of electric motorcycles in the country.
The development comes as Pakistan’s electric vehicle sector continues to gain momentum, supported by government initiatives under the National Electric Vehicle Policy and the recently approved second phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification Program.
In recent months, the government has introduced various incentives aimed at promoting EV adoption, including support for electric two-wheelers, battery development, localization of manufacturing, and expansion of charging infrastructure.
Pakistan’s motorcycle market is among the largest in the region, with annual sales ranging between 1.2 million and 1.5 million units. Industry analysts believe electric motorcycles could see rapid adoption due to rising fuel costs, lower running expenses, and increasing urban commuting needs.
Millat Tractors Limited, established in 1964 and operating in collaboration with Massey Ferguson technology, is one of Pakistan’s leading tractor manufacturers and a key player in the agricultural machinery sector, having produced hundreds of thousands of tractors for the domestic market.
