Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has unveiled plans to expand its fiber-optic broadband network to 10 million households, significantly scaling up high-speed internet access across the country.
The announcement was made by company officials during a financial briefing, where PTCL outlined its strategy to strengthen fixed broadband infrastructure and accelerate digital connectivity nationwide.
Pakistan currently has an estimated 30 million households, and PTCL aims to connect nearly one-third of them through fiber-based ultra-high-speed internet services.
At present, the company provides last-mile broadband connectivity to around 1.7 million households. Officials said continued investment in fiber deployment will remain central to PTCL’s growth strategy as data consumption and demand for reliable internet services continue to rise.
The company emphasized that expanding wired broadband coverage will help improve internet quality, enhance digital inclusion, and support growing needs such as remote work, online education, streaming, and digital businesses.
PTCL added that further infrastructure investment will focus on increasing network penetration and making fiber broadband accessible to a wider segment of the population in the coming years.
