The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for next week as foreign delegations arrive in the federal capital for high-level meetings.
Under the plan, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all types of traffic. Authorities have advised commuters to use alternative routes and fully cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid disruption.
The restrictions will take effect from Monday, 19 April 2026.
As part of the plan, traffic will not be allowed on the road stretch between the G-7/G-8 intersection near NADRA and the G-8 Markaz junction. Vehicles coming from multiple key arteries will be redirected as follows:
- Traffic from Margalla Road will be diverted towards F-7, F-6, G-6, and G-5
- Traffic from Faisal Avenue will be rerouted to F-7, F-6, G-6, and G-5
- Traffic from 9th Avenue will also be diverted towards F-7, F-6, G-6, and G-5
- Traffic from Constitution Avenue will follow the same diversion route
- Vehicles coming from Rawal Dam will be directed towards G-7
- Traffic from Aabpara will be diverted towards G-7
- Traffic from Serena Hotel will be routed towards G-7
- Traffic from Blue Area will also be sent towards G-7
These measures will remain in place until the conclusion of the high-level talks in Islamabad.

ITP has urged citizens to plan their travel in advance and follow on-ground instructions from traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow across the city.
