A Deputy Director of the Customs Academy of Pakistan (CAP), Karachi, has been suspended after repeatedly failing to attend a mandatory professional training program at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), according to an official notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The FBR, in a notification released on Wednesday, stated that exercising powers under Rule 5(1) of the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020, the competent authority has placed Iqbal Ahmad Memon (PCS/BS-18) under immediate suspension. He was serving as Deputy Director at the Customs Academy of Pakistan, Karachi.

The notification said disciplinary proceedings have been initiated due to his repeated and unauthorized absence from several sessions of a compulsory certification course conducted at LUMS.

Officials noted that the officer’s failure to attend mandatory training sessions constituted non-compliance with official directives and demonstrated a lack of professional diligence toward assigned responsibilities.

The suspension will remain in effect until completion of the disciplinary proceedings under the applicable civil service rules.
