United States President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring that any Iranian vessel approaching American naval forces enforcing a newly imposed maritime blockade would face destruction. The warning followed the official launch of US military operations aimed at restricting shipping activity linked to Iranian ports.
According to US officials, the blockade began after a previously announced deadline expired, marking a significant escalation in Washington’s campaign to pressure Tehran. The move effectively places strict limits on maritime traffic entering and leaving Iran, signaling a shift from diplomatic pressure toward direct military enforcement.
Iran strongly condemned the action, with its armed forces accusing the United States of violating international maritime law. Iranian authorities described the restrictions on ship movement in international waters as illegal and comparable to piracy, warning that such measures could provoke serious consequences.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said recent negotiations with American representatives held in Pakistan failed to produce results, blaming what he called uncompromising US demands, changing negotiation conditions, and the decision to impose a blockade while talks were underway.
At the same time, tensions across the wider Middle East continue to rise. Israeli forces carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, killing at least four people in the town of Maaroub. Reports indicate Israeli troops have sealed off entry points to Bint Jbeil as clashes with Hezbollah fighters intensify, adding another flashpoint to an already volatile regional situation.
With diplomacy stalled and military actions expanding on multiple fronts, fears are growing that the confrontation could evolve into a broader regional crisis.
