Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a virtual meeting with Pakistan’s electric fan industry to discuss energy efficiency, export growth, and financing for capacity expansion. The session, attended by industry leaders from PEFMA and FPCCI, highlighted the sector’s potential to support energy savings while boosting local manufacturing and exports.
The industry, comprising around 300 manufacturers in Gujrat and Gujranwala, provides about 40,000 direct and over 150,000 indirect jobs. Representatives stressed the sector’s readiness to shift toward energy-efficient DC fan technology, which could significantly reduce electricity consumption across households and businesses.
Minister Aurangzeb noted that while policy frameworks for energy efficiency exist, wider adoption requires stronger coordination with financial institutions and increased awareness among consumers and manufacturers. Access to financing for scaling production was also discussed, along with reforms to simplify SME liquidity, tax refunds, and input tariffs.
The meeting also addressed challenges in raw material supply, particularly copper and aluminum, emphasizing the need to balance exports with domestic value-added production. Participants explored strategies to expand market access and enhance competitiveness through innovation and targeted policy support.
Concluding the discussion, the Finance Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting value-added manufacturing, export-oriented growth, and sustainable energy practices, while encouraging ongoing engagement between industry and government stakeholders.
Attendees included Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, senior Finance Division officials, and leading industry figures including Nabeel Ahmed Ilyas (PEFMA Chairman) and M. Faisal Afzal (CEO, Super Asia Group).
