Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has denied posting a controversial message about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, saying his social media account was hacked shortly after the Pakistan Super League’s opening match.

The incident occurred during the opening fixture of the Pakistan Super League 2026 at Gaddafi Stadium, where Maryam Nawaz attended as chief guest for the match between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen.

She was welcomed by Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, who introduced her to franchise owners and players. The chief minister interacted with both teams and conveyed her best wishes before the match began.

Viral Post Sparks Debate

Shortly after the ceremony, a post appeared on Naseem Shah’s verified account on X quoting a PCB media update showing Naqvi greeting Maryam Nawaz.

The message questioned why she was being treated “like the queen at Lords,” quickly going viral and triggering mixed reactions among cricket fans and social media users.

The post was later deleted.

Naseem Shah Responds

Naseem Shah clarified that he did not publish the message, stating that his account had been compromised.

According to the cricketer, the account was recently hacked but has since been successfully recovered, and the controversial post resulted from unauthorized access.

Lahore Qalandars Win Opening Match

On the field, Lahore Qalandars began their title defense with a convincing 69-run victory.

The defending champions posted 199/6 after opting to bat first, powered by a half-century from Fakhar Zaman, who scored 53 runs. Useful contributions came from Mohammad Naeem (30), Haseebullah Khan (40 not out), and Sikandar Raza, who added a quick cameo.

In response, Hyderabad Kingsmen were bowled out for 130, with Qalandars bowlers — including Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mustafizur Rahman — delivering a disciplined performance to seal the opening-day win.
