Pakistan Customs has seized undeclared electronic goods valued at Rs. 5.5 million from a passenger arriving from Dubai at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, including a PlayStation 5, 29 cameras, camera lenses and fitness bands.

The value of the confiscated electronics is roughly comparable to the price of a small residential plot in some DHA Multan locations, adding a striking dimension to the seizure.

The passenger arrived on Flydubai flight FZ-335 and was referred for detailed inspection after X-ray scanning of his luggage and shoulder bag indicated the presence of high-end electronic equipment.

A subsequent search uncovered 29 cameras, comprising six Sony cameras, one Nikon camera, three Canon DSLRs and 19 other digital cameras. Officials also recovered five camera lenses and 10 fitness bands, along with a PlayStation 5 and other assorted electronic items.

Customs officials said none of the recovered goods had been declared by the passenger. The entire consignment has been detained under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.

A case has been registered against the passenger, while further legal proceedings are underway.

Pakistan Customs said it is continuing to strengthen checks at international entry points to prevent the movement of commercial quantities of goods through passenger baggage.
