The Government of Pakistan has restored regular office timings for federal departments following the conclusion of Ramazan, while confirming public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr on March 20 and 21.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the revised schedule will take effect immediately after Ramazan. Offices observing a five-day workweek will operate from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, while those with a six-day schedule will function from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Both will include a 30-minute نماز/lunch break from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Separately, the Cabinet Division has confirmed Eid-ul-Fitr public holidays on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, following approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
With Sunday (March 22) as a weekly holiday and March 23 already designated for Pakistan Day, the announcement effectively creates a four-day extended weekend for many across the country.
However, provincial governments have announced slight variations. Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan have declared holidays starting March 19, while the federal government and Sindh will observe holidays from March 20.
The exact date of Eid-ul-Fitr remains subject to moon sighting, expected around March 18–19, though official holidays have been scheduled in advance to facilitate planning.
