A Pakistan-bound oil tanker has successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz and is now en route to Pakistan, according to ship-tracking data reported by Bloomberg.
The passage comes amid severely limited vessel movements from the Persian Gulf following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, which have significantly heightened maritime risks.
The tanker, operated by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), completed the perilous transit on Sunday. By Monday morning, the Pakistan-flagged Aframax vessel was observed near the waters off Sohar, Oman, after passing through the strategically critical and narrow maritime route.
Since the escalation of hostilities, only a handful of ships have successfully exited the Gulf. Increased security threats and the potential for disruption have made passage through the Strait of Hormuz particularly dangerous for commercial vessels. Reports indicate that Western-bound ships heading for Israel are under heavy surveillance and often prevented from safe transit by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
This successful passage underscores the challenges faced by shipping operators as regional tensions continue to disrupt global oil supply routes.
