The federal government has officially set June 10 as the date for presenting the national budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, putting an end to speculation about further delays.

Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal confirmed that the budget will be tabled in the National Assembly on June 10. The presentation was originally scheduled for June 2 but was postponed due to unresolved financial issues between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Bosal stated that virtual negotiations with the IMF are set to resume today, with both sides working to finalize key aspects of the budget. He emphasized that the new budget will be shaped in line with IMF recommendations, and discussions are ongoing to secure relief measures for the salaried class. “Talks with the IMF will include proposals to ease the burden on fixed-income groups,” he said.

The Finance Secretary also noted that the date for the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting may be revised, though no final decision has been made. The schedule for the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meeting also remains pending.

Meanwhile, the government is preparing to roll out a revised net metering policy aimed at encouraging solar adoption among households and businesses. The policy is expected to introduce new terms for distributed solar generation and its integration into the national grid, though specific details have yet to be released.
