The federal government has announced revised petroleum prices for the next fortnight, with another increase in the cost of petrol and high-speed diesel. According to the notification, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs. 1, bringing it to Rs. 257.13 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has seen a significant hike of Rs. 7 per liter, now costing Rs. 267.95.
The new prices, effective from February 1, were notified by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.
This marks the third consecutive fortnightly increase in petrol prices. During the previous review, the government raised the price of petrol by Rs. 3.47 to Rs. 256.13 per liter, while high-speed diesel was increased by Rs. 2.61 to Rs. 260.95 per liter.
