Pakistan’s Directorate of Passport and Immigration has officially denied recent media reports suggesting an increase in passport fees, confirming that the current fee structure has remained unchanged since the last adjustment on March 7.
A spokesperson from the directorate dismissed the rumors as baseless and reassured citizens that no new changes in passport fees have been implemented.
According to the directorate’s fee structure, a standard 36-page passport valid for five years costs Rs4,500 for regular issuance, Rs7,500 for urgent processing, and Rs12,500 for fast-track services. For a 72-page passport, the fees are Rs8,200 for standard issuance, Rs13,500 for urgent, and Rs18,500 for fast-track. In the case of lost passports, the re-issue fee starts at Rs9,000 for the first replacement, with incremental increases for subsequent replacements.
The directorate urged citizens to disregard any claims of a recent fee hike, explaining that passport fees vary by page count and service urgency, with specific rates for 36-page, 72-page, and 100-page passports.
Contrary to recent reports, the authority also confirmed that there has been no change to the existing fees for e-passports and machine-readable passports (MRPs). Officials reaffirmed that the previously announced rates remain in effect across all passport categories, dispelling any confusion about recent fee adjustments.
