The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has reached a significant milestone by generating Rs. 250 million through the sale of four permits for markhor hunting. This financial achievement not only marks a success for the government but also provides substantial economic benefits to the region.

According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department, the highest bids for trophy hunting were received for the Toshie 1 and Toshie 2 regions. The combined revenue from these two hunts is expected to exceed Rs. 150 million, highlighting the program’s success.

Additionally, a hunt in Kiga, Kohistan, is estimated to generate Rs. 53.7 million, while another in Gahirat, Chitral, is projected to bring in Rs. 52.8 million.

Wildlife officials emphasized that 80% of the trophy hunting revenue is shared with local communities. This revenue sharing supports local economies and contributes to community development and wildlife conservation efforts.

This initiative is crucial not only for wildlife preservation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also for creating economic opportunities for local residents. It underscores the importance of such programs in fostering sustainable development and ensuring the well-being of both wildlife and the people living in these areas.
