Bank branches across Pakistan will remain closed for three consecutive days from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, as Independence Day coincides with the regular weekend holidays.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will remain closed on Friday, August 14, 2026, following the federal government’s declaration of Independence Day as a public holiday.
The public holiday will be followed by the usual Saturday and Sunday weekly holidays, resulting in a three-day closure of physical banking services.
Regular branch operations are expected to resume on Monday, August 17. Customers requiring in-person banking services are advised to complete their branch-related work before the holiday.
The closure primarily affects physical branches, while online banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and other digital services may continue to operate, subject to individual banks’ arrangements.
