The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks and financial institutions across the country will remain closed on Friday, May 1, in observance of Labour Day.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the central bank confirmed that May 1, 2026, has been declared a public holiday by the Government of Pakistan on the occasion of Labour Day, and the SBP will remain closed accordingly.

Following the central bank’s notification, all commercial banks, microfinance banks, and development finance institutions will also suspend operations on the same day.

Regular banking activities will resume on the next working day.
