The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward streak against the US dollar on Monday, closing in the green for the 169th consecutive trading session.
According to market data, the rupee appreciated slightly by 3 paisas, settling at 278.47 per US dollar.
However, the local currency showed a mixed performance against other major global currencies, gaining in some cases while losing ground in others.
Against the British pound, the rupee declined by Rs. 1.18, while it weakened by 56 paisas against the euro. It also slipped by 59 paisas against the Australian dollar. In contrast, it posted a marginal gain of 22 paisas against the Canadian dollar.
The rupee remained largely stable against Gulf currencies, showing minimal movement against the UAE dirham and Saudi riyal during the session.
Overall, currency market trends reflected mixed sentiment, with the rupee’s steady performance against the dollar contrasted by volatility against other major global currencies.
