Transport operations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been temporarily suspended after authorities imposed strict security arrangements ahead of an expected second round of negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Under the new measures, major transport terminals in both cities have been closed, while rent-a-car services and tourism transport operations have also been halted. District administrations nationwide have formally instructed transport operators not to issue tickets for passengers travelling to the twin cities until further notice.
As part of the security plan, public transport vehicles have been prohibited from entering Islamabad and Rawalpindi through key routes, including the motorway network and the GT Road.
Officials indicated that freight and goods transport may continue operating to avoid disruption in the supply of essential commodities, though a final decision is still pending. The restrictions were approved during a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, private transport company Faisal Movers confirmed the temporary suspension of its Islamabad services following government directives, stating that passengers will be notified once normal operations resume.
