Muhammad Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), has assumed charge as Acting Chairman following a no-confidence vote against former Chairman Sajjad Mustafa Syed.

According to a statement issued by P@SHA, eight of the 12 members of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) voted in favour of the no-confidence motion. Three members opposed it, while one abstained, giving the motion the required two-thirds majority.

Nizam has taken over the chairmanship on an interim basis under P@SHA’s rules and will remain Acting Chairman until the CEC elects a new chairman.

P@SHA said the leadership change would not affect its upcoming activities. The association maintained that its elections and the 22nd P@SHA ICT Awards will proceed according to schedule.

The association also said the CEC would focus on maintaining continuity and ensuring the smooth operation of its ongoing initiatives.

The development comes after an earlier leadership dispute at P@SHA. In June, the Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO) had suspended an earlier decision to remove Sajjad Mustafa Syed and restored him as chairman, while Nizam was directed to continue only as Senior Vice Chairman.

The latest no-confidence vote has therefore reopened the leadership dispute within the IT industry body.

Syed has reportedly rejected the latest move, calling his removal illegal and indicating that he intends to challenge it.

P@SHA’s elections for its 2026–2028 Central Executive Committee and office bearers are scheduled for September 17, adding further significance to the leadership change.
