The Prime Minister’s Office has ordered all federal ministries, divisions, and attached organizations to obtain mandatory approval from the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) before initiating any recruitment related to Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to an official directive issued to government departments, AI-related hiring across the federal government will now fall under centralized technical supervision to ensure uniform standards and oversight.

The instructions reference the Pakistan Digital Authority’s Office Memorandum dated April 20, 2026, stating that, on the directions of the Prime Minister’s Office, all processes involving AI human resources — including the creation of new posts, recruitment approvals, hiring procedures, and related administrative actions — must undergo technical vetting and receive formal concurrence from the PDA.

Under the new policy, ministries and divisions will not be allowed to advertise AI positions, finalize terms of reference, initiate recruitment, or proceed with hiring in AI-related domains without obtaining prior technical clearance from the authority.

Officials said the move is aimed at centralizing technical evaluation of AI expertise within the federal government and ensuring coordinated implementation of artificial intelligence initiatives across public sector institutions.
