The Pakistani rupee (PKR) continued its upward trend against the US dollar on Wednesday, posting its 198th consecutive daily gain in the interbank market.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at 278.0015 per US dollar, strengthening by 1.22 paisas from the previous close of 278.0137. The currency has been appreciating against the dollar since December 25, 2025 and is now within touching distance of the 277/$ level, last seen in October 2024.

Other Currencies

The rupee posted mixed performance against other major currencies.

  • UAE Dirham (AED): Gained 0.33 paisa to close at 75.6961.
  • Saudi Riyal (SAR): Weakened 2.24 paisas to 74.0488.
  • Euro (EUR): Lost 77.84 paisas to 317.6028.
  • British Pound (GBP): Fell 28.95 paisas to 371.6741.
  • Australian Dollar (AUD): Improved 9.19 paisas to 192.8635.
  • Canadian Dollar (CAD): Strengthened 84.38 paisas to 196.2941.
  • Chinese Yuan (CNY): Gained 11.47 paisas to 40.9021.
  • Malaysian Ringgit (MYR): Declined 13.94 paisas to 68.3135.
