The Pakistani rupee (PKR) extended its winning streak against the US dollar on Monday, appreciating for the 191st consecutive trading session.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the rupee closed at Rs. 278.1131 against the US dollar, improving by one paisa from the previous close of Rs. 278.1210.
The local currency has recorded uninterrupted gains against the dollar since December 25, 2025.
In the interbank market, the rupee remained virtually unchanged against the UAE dirham, gaining 0.22 paisa to close at Rs. 75.7182. It also strengthened by 0.81 paisa against the Saudi riyal, ending the session at Rs. 74.0647.
Among major international currencies, the rupee posted notable gains against the euro and the British pound. It appreciated by 85.73 paisas against the euro to Rs. 317.7025 and by 76.15 paisas against the pound sterling to Rs. 371.1558.
The rupee also advanced against other key currencies, gaining 25.59 paisas against the Australian dollar to Rs. 192.8992, 61.25 paisas against the Canadian dollar to Rs. 195.5582, 16.12 paisas against the Malaysian ringgit to Rs. 68.1984, and 6.45 paisas against the Chinese yuan to Rs. 40.9493.
