Pakistan’s textile exports rose sharply by 43.13 percent month-on-month to $1.81 billion in July 2026, giving the sector a strong start to the new fiscal year, according to provisional data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Exports increased from $1.27 billion in June and were 8.07 percent higher than the $1.68 billion recorded in July 2025. In rupee terms, textile exports reached Rs. 504.34 billion.

Knitwear remained the largest export category, with shipments climbing 46.60 percent from the previous month to $533.84 million. The category also posted 4.06 percent year-on-year growth.

Readymade garment exports increased 45.87 percent month-on-month to $459.99 million, while bedwear exports rose 47.13 percent to $308.50 million. Compared with July last year, readymade garments grew 15 percent and bedwear increased 4.16 percent.

Towel exports recorded the strongest monthly growth among major textile categories, jumping 60.35 percent to $106.36 million. Exports of made-up articles other than towels and bedwear increased 58.51 percent to $77.21 million.

Cotton cloth exports rose 26.27 percent month-on-month to $141.59 million, although they remained slightly below their level a year earlier. Cotton yarn exports increased 3.91 percent to $66.53 million and were 18.69 percent higher year-on-year.

Textile Imports Also Rise

Pakistan’s textile-related imports also increased in July. Total textile imports rose 5.37 percent month-on-month to $682.21 million, compared with $647.43 million in June.

Imports were also 14.82 percent higher year-on-year, rising from $594.17 million in July 2025.

Raw cotton imports declined 15.37 percent from June to $186.34 million, but remained 30.01 percent above July 2025.

Imports of synthetic and artificial silk yarn surged 43 percent month-on-month to $125.84 million, while worn clothing imports increased 6.30 percent to $62.36 million.

Synthetic fiber imports rose 4.34 percent to $72.42 million during the month, although they were 4.02 percent lower than a year earlier.
