The Senate has approved a bill granting lifetime blue passports to serving and retired senators, bringing them in line with members of the National Assembly, local media reported on Monday.

The Passport Act Amendment Bill, moved by Senator Abdul Qadir, was passed by the upper house and seeks to extend lifetime blue passport eligibility to current and former Senate members.

The Senate also approved a Criminal Laws Amendment Bill introduced by Senator Fauzia Arshad.
