Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) Chairman Bilal Bin Saqib briefed Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on his recent visit to Hong Kong and discussions with regulators and policymakers on digital assets, blockchain and tokenization.
Saqib shared details of his meetings with Hong Kong’s Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Securities and Futures Commission. The talks focused on Hong Kong’s experience with digital assets and areas where its approach could offer lessons for Pakistan.
The discussions covered virtual assets, stablecoins, compliance rules, digital financial infrastructure and the use of blockchain and tokenization in financial markets.
Saqib also highlighted potential digital finance applications and opportunities for institutional cooperation that could support Pakistan’s developing virtual assets sector.
Aurangzeb welcomed the briefing and stressed that Pakistan needs a transparent and properly regulated digital assets ecosystem that encourages innovation while providing appropriate safeguards.
The finance minister also emphasized the importance of turning international engagements into practical projects and use cases that can contribute to the growth of Pakistan’s digital financial sector.
