Pakistan’s cement despatches declined 0.70 percent year-on-year to 4.039 million tons in August 2026, with weaker sales from northern mills offsetting strong growth in the south and higher exports, according to APCMA data.
Local cement despatches fell 1.07 percent to 3.283 million tons, while exports edged up 0.92 percent to 756,553 tons during the month.
Northern cement mills recorded a 9.43 percent decline in total despatches to 2.691 million tons. Their domestic sales also dropped 2.59 percent to 2.691 million tons, while no exports were recorded from the region during August.
Southern mills performed much better, posting a 22.97 percent increase in total despatches to 1.35 million tons. Domestic sales rose 6.53 percent to 591,164 tons, while exports surged 39.83 percent to 756,553 tons.
Despite the weaker August numbers, the cement industry recorded growth during the first two months of FY27. Total despatches reached 8.521 million tons, up 2.80 percent from 8.289 million tons a year earlier.
Domestic despatches increased 8.04 percent to 7.058 million tons, while exports declined 16.69 percent to 1.464 million tons.
During July-August, northern mills recorded a 7.98 percent increase in domestic despatches to 5.784 million tons. However, their total despatches fell 0.22 percent because exports dropped to zero.
Southern mills recorded stronger overall growth, with total despatches rising 9.83 percent to 2.738 million tons. Domestic sales increased 8.28 percent, while exports grew 11.21 percent during the period.
APCMA also expressed concern over heavy rains and flooding in northern areas, saying the situation has caused significant damage to agriculture and homes. The association called on the government to provide support to affected communities.
