Naran, one of the main tourist destinations in Kaghan Valley, is expected to reopen to visitors soon as authorities continue efforts to restore traffic on the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road.
The road has remained closed since November last year after heavy snowfall disrupted access to the area for nearly six months.
Officials said snow-clearing work is in its final stages, with machinery already deployed to cut through glaciers and remove snow from the route. Traffic up to Naran is likely to resume within the next few days, although full restoration of the road may still take another four to five weeks.
The reopening is being closely watched by local businesses, especially hotel owners, many of whom have started returning to Naran to prepare for the expected arrival of tourists.
However, some major tourist attractions in the area remain inaccessible. Authorities said routes leading to places such as Lake Saiful Muluk are still blocked due to lingering snow and landslides.
Meanwhile, arrangements are also being made to restore security and administrative operations in the area. Police posts along the route have not yet been fully reactivated, though officials said the main police station in lower Kaghan Valley will be shifted to Naran and additional posts will be restored in phases to ensure the safety of travellers.
