The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has removed four shops built illegally near the E-11 Bridge in Islamabad following heavy rainfall that left large parts of the area flooded.

The operation was conducted around a drainage channel, where the CDA said unauthorized structures were restricting the movement of rainwater and contributing to water accumulation.

CDA teams brought in heavy machinery to clear the structures, while Islamabad Police and CDA officials were deployed at the location during the operation.

The action came after rainwater entered nearby homes and commercial properties in E-11, causing significant disruption for residents and shopkeepers.

The affected shopkeepers objected to the demolition, claiming their goods were moved onto the road during the operation. They also questioned why the authority had waited until after the flooding to take action if the structures were already considered illegal.

The CDA said clearing the encroachments was necessary to restore the drainage channel’s flow and reduce the chances of further flooding during heavy rainfall.
