Pakistan has successfully avoided a potential shortage of petroleum products after several oil tankers carrying large fuel shipments began arriving at the country’s ports, according to industry sources.

Officials said the government’s emergency planning for energy supply during the ongoing regional tensions helped ensure the availability of fuel across the country.

In total, four oil tankers carrying more than 250,000 metric tons of petroleum products are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan within a 24 to 72-hour window. Three vessels have already reached the country, while another tanker is expected to dock on Wednesday afternoon.

The fuel shipments were arranged from multiple international sources, including Saudi Arabia, Fujairah, Kuwait, and Singapore. Cargo routes were adjusted to avoid sensitive shipping lanes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Industry officials noted that with the arrival of these shipments, Pakistan currently holds petroleum reserves sufficient for about 30 days.

At Port Qasim, several vessels have already docked or are expected to berth shortly. The gas tanker MT Torum has anchored at the Damini Futco terminal, while MT Navey Atropos arrived on March 9 carrying around 50,000 metric tons of oil.

Another vessel, MT Spruce II, is scheduled to anchor at 8:30 pm on March 10 with approximately 55,000 metric tons of petroleum products. Meanwhile, MTC Clipper is expected to reach the port at 12 noon on March 11, transporting 34,000 metric tons of oil.

Port officials also confirmed that a tanker from Fujairah has already docked at Port Qasim, with additional shipments anticipated in the coming days to further support Pakistan’s fuel supply chain.
