The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have warned Pakistanis that sharing family photos, home locations and daily routines on social media could expose them to security risks.
In a public awareness advisory, the organizations said seemingly harmless photographs, captions and status updates could reveal sensitive information about family members, their activities and their whereabouts.
Posts showing home interiors, regular schedules or locations could help malicious individuals identify household habits and determine when family members are likely to be at home or away.
NCERT and NTC have advised citizens against tagging their home locations, disclosing their real-time whereabouts or sharing details that reveal their families’ daily routines.
The warning also covers personal information shared on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and X.
The organizations urged social media users to exercise caution when posting content involving family members and avoid disclosing unnecessary personal details publicly.
They emphasized that information shared online could be misused, making privacy-conscious social media habits an important part of protecting families from potential security threats.
