The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the federal cabinet on Monday approved Rs. 3 billion to purchase 15 bulletproof sedans for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Islamabad in September 2027.
The Cabinet Division requested the funds through a Technical Supplementary Grant, stating that the vehicles are required for the secure transportation of visiting heads of state.
The ECC directed relevant authorities to ensure timely preparations for the international summit, including security and transportation arrangements.
The committee also reviewed arrangements made for the recent SCO heads of state summit in Kyrgyzstan and considered them a useful model for Pakistan’s preparations.
The approved funds will cover the purchase of 15 bulletproof vehicles for foreign leaders attending the summit.
Pakistan will host the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit in September 2027, with preparations expected to cover security, transport and other logistical arrangements for visiting leaders and delegations.
