The federal government has decided to pass on the impact of rising global crude oil prices to consumers by increasing petroleum product prices from midnight.
According to sources, the move comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, which have driven crude oil prices higher in international markets.
Under the proposed revision, the price of petrol is expected to increase by Rs. 13 per litre, while high-speed diesel is likely to become Rs. 14 per litre more expensive.
Sources said the revised prices will take effect from 12:00 a.m. tonight, with the official notification expected to be issued later this evening.
The government has not yet officially announced the new fuel prices.
