Pakistan is stepping up efforts to attract foreign investment into its energy and critical minerals sectors through fresh engagements with international companies exploring opportunities in the country.

According to an official statement, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik held separate meetings with representatives of leading global energy firms to discuss investment prospects in oil, gas, mining, and energy infrastructure.

In one meeting, the minister met Gregory Bloom, President of US-based Morgan Hughes Energy, along with Ahmed Waleed, CEO of Tijarah Capital. The two companies are collaborating on mineral exploration initiatives in Balochistan.

During the discussions, Bloom expressed interest in investing in projects aimed at increasing production from Pakistan’s existing oil and gas fields. Malik assured the delegation that the government would provide full support to facilitate foreign investors and strengthen domestic energy production.

Separately, the petroleum minister met Karen Gallagher, CEO of Vitol Asia, and congratulated the company on launching bunkering operations at Gwadar Port.

The meeting focused on opportunities to develop facilities for converting high-sulfur fuel oil into very low-sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO), potential investments under Pakistan’s newly introduced bonded storage policy, and expanding collaboration with major international energy companies.

The discussions reflect the government’s broader strategy to bring in foreign capital, unlock the country’s energy and mineral potential, and strengthen strategic infrastructure to support long-term economic growth.
