Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the government is working to ensure the upcoming budget does not place a significant financial burden on the public.

In an interview with Geo News, he stated that the budget approach will prioritize improved tax enforcement and compliance rather than introducing large-scale tax increases.

He added that efforts are underway to ease inflationary pressures, with the government continuing policy steps aimed at stabilizing prices and reducing cost-of-living stress.

On foreign policy, the finance minister said Pakistan is actively engaged in efforts to reduce regional tensions and claimed that the country’s diplomatic role is receiving positive recognition internationally.

Aurangzeb also called on political parties to shift focus away from political criticism and instead cooperate on measures aimed at strengthening economic stability.

Discussing agriculture, he said modern farming techniques could significantly improve wheat yields, noting that some farmers have already achieved production levels of 60 to 70 maunds per acre.

He further said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is closely monitoring issues in the agriculture sector, adding that higher productivity could significantly enhance Pakistan’s export capacity in the future.
