The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has posted a strong start to the new fiscal year, collecting Rs. 810 billion in tax revenue during July, surpassing its monthly target by Rs. 30 billion.

The tax authority had set a collection target of Rs. 780 billion for July 2026, the first month of FY2026-27, but managed to outperform expectations through improved revenue mobilisation.

The July performance marks the beginning of FBR’s challenging annual tax collection goal of Rs. 15.264 trillion for FY2026-27, aimed at boosting Pakistan’s tax-to-GDP ratio and supporting fiscal consolidation efforts.

The achievement comes as the government pushes ahead with tax reforms and measures to expand the tax base, improve compliance, and strengthen revenue collection under its economic reform program.
