The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed its Customs and Inland Revenue personnel to disclose whether they or their immediate family members hold foreign citizenship, passports or other travel documents.

Under the latest instructions, officials are also required to provide information about any marriage to a foreign national.

The information must be submitted through a designated form and sent electronically to the relevant officials in FBR’s Management Wing. The requirement covers foreign citizenship held by the officer as well as by family members.

FBR has now issued a final reminder to those who have yet to complete the declaration. The 90-day period given for submitting the information ended on August 30.

Officials who have not filed their forms have been told to submit the required details without further delay.

The tax authority has also warned that ignoring the requirement could have disciplinary consequences. Failure to submit the declaration may be treated as misconduct under the rules governing civil servants.

Providing inaccurate or false information could also result in disciplinary proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.

FBR has instructed all concerned officers and employees to comply with the disclosure requirement.
