Engro Powergen Qadirpur Limited (PSX: EPQL) has appointed Khurram Abdullah as its new chief executive officer, effective October 15, 2026, according to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
Abdullah will serve for the remainder of the current term, which will end when the company holds its next election of directors.
Outgoing CEO Athar Abrar Khwaja has resigned from the position and will join the board as a director to fill a vacant seat. His tenure will also continue until the next directors’ election.
Abdullah brings more than 20 years of experience in Pakistan’s energy and industrial sectors. He has held senior technical, commercial and strategic positions at K-Electric and The Hub Power Company (HUBCO), including general manager roles covering technical operations, commercial matters and contracts.
He previously worked at Engro Powergen Qadirpur from 2014 to 2015 as group lead for technical and commercial matters.
Abdullah holds a bachelor’s degree from NED University of Engineering and Technology and an MBA from the Institute of Business Management.
Engro Powergen Qadirpur operates a 217.3-megawatt combined-cycle power plant near Qadirpur in Sindh’s Ghotki district. The plant uses permeate gas, which was previously flared, to generate electricity and began commercial operations in March 2010.
