The Capital Development Authority (CDA) carried out an intensive overnight operation to control wildfires that broke out in multiple areas of the Margalla Hills National Park, Islamabad’s most prominent natural reserve.

According to officials, fire incidents were reported in different ranges, including Golra and Bhara Kahu, prompting a large-scale emergency response. Firefighting teams, along with environment staff and field officers, remained deployed throughout the night to stop the flames from spreading further into forested zones.

More than 120 personnel from the CDA Environment Wing participated in the operation, while senior officials from the CDA and Islamabad administration supervised efforts on the ground. Authorities also coordinated with the Rawalpindi Forest Department to assist in controlling a separate fire in a nearby forest area.

Another fire reported in the Golra Range was also brought under control after hours of effort, followed by cooling operations to reduce the risk of re-ignition.

Officials urged citizens to avoid careless activities such as littering, burning waste, or using open flames in forested areas, warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for starting fires.
