The Office of the Banking Mohtasib has provided monetary relief exceeding Rs. 1.06 billion to banking customers in the first nine months of 2024, according to an official statement. From January to September, nearly 18,836 complaints were resolved, offering significant financial redress to affected customers.
During this period, the Banking Mohtasib received 21,904 new complaints, including 5,277 submitted through the Prime Minister’s Portal. Of these, 18,431 complaints were addressed, resulting in a monetary relief of Rs. 972.33 million.
In light of increasing fraudulent activities, Banking Mohtasib Sirajuddin Aziz has urged customers to safeguard their personal and financial information. He advised against sharing credentials with third parties or clicking on links from unreliable sources. Aziz emphasized the importance of promptly reporting suspicious calls to their bank’s nearest branch or helpline and notifying the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) with relevant details.
