Attock Refinery Limited has temporarily shut down its main crude distillation unit after disruptions in oil tanker movement affected crude supply and product dispatches, the company said in a notice to the stock exchange.

The refinery said its 32,400-barrel-per-day crude distillation unit, known as HBU I, was taken offline after traffic restrictions linked to the expected arrival of foreign delegates in Islamabad suspended tanker movement to and from the refinery.

The disruption has strained refinery operations by sharply reducing crude oil receipts while also limiting the dispatch of refined petroleum products, the company said.

Attock Refinery added that stocks of Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel had built up significantly because products could not be moved out smoothly, even as crude inflows to the plant fell due to continued road closures.

The company said the unit would remain shut until traffic conditions improve and normal supply routes are restored.

The shutdown highlights how logistical disruptions outside the energy supply chain can quickly affect refining operations and fuel movement in Pakistan, particularly when road transport remains critical for both crude deliveries and product dispatches.
