LPG prices in Pakistan have fallen by Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 per kilogram over the past two days following the temporary resumption of supplies from Iran. Another reduction of around Rs. 30 per kg is expected within the next two to three days.

The senior vice chairman of the LPG Distribution Association said prices were declining gradually but warned that the threat of a shortage during the upcoming winter season remained.

Only Pre-October 16 LPG Shipments Allowed

According to the association, Pakistan has allowed the entry of only those LPG bowsers that were loaded at Iranian refineries and reached the Pakistan-Iran border before October 16.

The total quantity covered by these shipments is estimated at 8,000 to 9,000 tonnes, enough to meet national demand for approximately three days.

The association said the limited supply would provide temporary relief but would not resolve the broader shortage.

LPG Association Seeks Six-Month Exemption

The All Pakistan LPG Distribution Association has urged the federal government to exempt LPG imports from Iran from the Electronic Import Form (EIF) requirement for six months.

The association has also approached Prime Minister’s Adviser Haroon Akhtar, seeking the restoration of the previous import mechanism for six months to ensure adequate supplies during winter.

It warned that LPG prices could climb to Rs. 1,000 per kg during the winter season if supplies from Iran are not restored on a sustained basis. The increase could also push the price of an LPG cylinder above Rs. 10,000.
