Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has warned social media users that anti-state posts, messages, and online harassment will not be tolerated, saying its cyber patrolling unit is monitoring activity across different platforms.
An Additional Director of the agency said the Director General had identified three key priorities: call centre operations, anti-state content, and online harassment.
Referring to online activity, the official said users should remember that their actions were being monitored. He added that the NCCIA’s cyber patrolling unit was actively tracking different social media applications to identify anti-state posts and messages.
The official warned that people could face action for publishing such content.
He also said social media users could not harass others, target women, or post defamatory material about individuals on Facebook and other platforms.
The official described these three areas as the agency’s main priorities but did not specify which call centre operations would be targeted or provide details of the legal action that could follow.
